Portfolio Construction Forum Market Summit 2024 Wrap

February 28, 2024
From the key insights to the most thought-provoking topics, Jonathan Tolub & Jonathan Ramsay discuss how the Portfolio Construction Forum Market Summit is helping them and their clients stay ahead of the macro curve and find new opportunities in emerging markets, small caps, private credit and more.

In this week's video JT and JR discuss how they are integrating some of the macro insights from the recent Portfolio Construction Forum Market Summit, particularly those concerning the US election.

There were also some longer term and somewhat philosophical discussions that were interesting and surprisingly well received by the audience. We are not yet sure how that relates to portfolio construction but there are quite a few threads to pull on and we have a feeling that some of the cultural overtones discussed might have some near term relevance to markets.

More practically opportunities in emerging markets, small caps, private credit were prominent, some of which we agree with and some which require more work. In particular, we are starting to understand where some of the fault lines in the private debt universe may lie. Conversely, this gives a little more confidence about the rest.

Over the next month we will be doing some (AI assisted) work that aims to make sure that we actually harness some of the insights from this and other conferences that we have attended recently rather than let it get lost in our wake (which happens all too often!)
